If we want to put together an assembly run by us at a middle school we should do it for 5th-6th grade. After the data Kaitlyn and I collected most kids start using drugs and being pressured into drugs at age 12 which is around 5-6 grade. Also, to start a DARE program the police need to be involved we need a signiture from the superintendant and the polive chief and the officers involved have to go through 80 hours of DARE training. We also would have to get the DARE curriculum from the website. I posted the link below. The website gives a ton of information about drug use in kids and also shows what other schools around the country are doing to prevent it.

Michelle Meneses: It all sounds like a good idea. One thing we might need to do petition get about 400-500 students to agree with this being an idea so it doesn't look like we're the only ones that want it. Although it seems like too man students, 400 is just one class...and a variety in the age of the students shows greater importance. We could start with just one grade, and then move on, but it would have to happen after students have already been educated or else they won't care or sign it.
Finally, about the assembly, the class needs to take a moment when we're all together to find a way to raise money, it's going to have to be better than coffee...
